When you schedule a free Water Efficiency Home Assessment, complimentary devices could be installed right in your home — all designed to help you save water, energy and money every day!
The Salinas Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency is offering free water efficiency home assessments for eligible rural properties in northern Monterey County as part of the Water Efficiency Pilot Program.
The home assessment program is available to rural residents who own or rent homes in the Monterey, Langley and 180/400 subbasins in northern Monterey County. To qualify, properties must be served by a private well or a small/medium water system.
The assessments, conducted by WaterWise Consulting, Inc., include an on-site evaluation of indoor and outdoor water use. Trained experts will check for leaks, review irrigation systems and evaluate plumbing fixtures and appliances. Residents will receive a detailed report with personalized recommendations and, in some cases, water-saving devices will be purchased and installed at no cost to the homeowner, including:
- Kitchen Aerator – Cuts kitchen faucet water use by nearly 30% while keeping strong rinsing power.
- Bath Aerator – Uses 50% less water without losing pressure or comfort.
- Shower Head – Provides the same experience with 30% less water.
- Rotator Nozzles – Save up to 30% more water than standard nozzles.
- Smart Irrigation Controller – Helps prevent overwatering and can cut outdoor water use by up to 50%.
Learn more about the assessment and request one by completing the online application. Funding is limited, and applications will be accepted until capacity is reached.
