A new partnership has been formed between the Salinas Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency (SVBGSA) and the Monterey County Water Resources Agency (MCWRA) to improve the collection and storage of regional groundwater data.

The partnership establishes one cohesive program, called the Groundwater Monitoring Program (GMP), to comply with the regulatory-driven monitoring requirements of California’s Sustainable Groundwater Management act. The SVBGSA is charged with achieving sustainability for the Salinas Valley Groundwater Basin (Basin), which extends from northwestern Monterey County to the southern boundary of Monterey County.
