ANNOUNCEMENT FOR:
Applications for Public Member for SVBGSA Board of Directors
The Salinas Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency (SVBGSA) is accepting applications for the Board of Directors’ Public Member seat. The SVBGSA is a Joint Power Authority (JPA) created by the California Sustainability Groundwater Management Act. The Agency is governed by a Board of eleven primary Directors, who each have an alternate who serves in the primary Director’s absence. The Public Member Director must be: i) a rural residential well owner; ii) an owner or representative of an industrial processor; iii) manage or part of a Local Small or State Small Water System (public water systems with more than 1 but less than 15 connections); or iv) manage or are part of a mutual water company serving residential or agricultural connections, or both. The three-year term for this seat ends July 2025.
Applicants should complete the application and email it to clerk@svbgsa.org by 5:00 pm August 26, 2022. The SVBGSA Board will consider applications at the regular Board meeting on September 8, 2022. Following consideration, applications will be forwarded to the Monterey County Board of Supervisors for appointment of both the primary and alternate Directors in keeping with the JPA agreement.
