Demand management: What is it, why it matters and how it affects the Salinas Valley

Demand management is one of many tools to mitigate and prevent overdraft of the groundwater supply.

The Salinas Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency is in the process of exploring demand management and will host a series of workshops this spring to discuss the future of water in the Salinas Valley. Five workshops will be hosted in Salinas (twice), Greenfield, King City and Castroville to connect with community members.

Demand management is a method of addressing groundwater overdraft and supporting sustainable groundwater supply.
